Partner
John J. George's legal career in Chicago spans
more than 40 years. A former Assistant Attorney General and former
Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, he is a
principal in the law firm of Daley and George,
specializing in corporate law, commercial litigation, land use and
zoning. He has a broad business and litigation practice,
specializing in real estate, land use, and zoning law. Prior
to joining the firm, he handled trials and appeals as an Assistant
Attorney General for the State of Illinois and, later, as an
Assistant Corporation for the City of Chicago. He has
significant experience representing real estate developers on zoning
and land use matters, in some of the largest developments in the Chicagoland area.
He has handled a broad range of litigation in
state and federal courts, as well as in proceedings before
administrative tribunals and arbitrations. He has also handled
numerous appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court, the Supreme
Court of Illinois and the United
States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
He has served on numerous committees of the
Chicago and Illinois State Bar Associations. He is a member of
Lambda Alpha International, an honorary land economics society.
His public and community service includes work at
Little City Foundation, where he has been an active Board member and
General Counsel since 1976. He served on the Hinsdale Hospital Civic
Board, the Advisory Board of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Board of the
Catholic Lawyers Guild, the Board of Old St. Patrick's Church,
and is a past president of the Celtic Lawyers Association and a life
Trustee of St. Ignatius College Prep.
